2 more days....

..until I get to see Carter again. I have an appointment on Thursday for my glucose test but I get an ultrasound too, yay! And here are so updates;

How far along?:
25w3days
Total weight gain: Up about 7-10 pounds or so. I'm not sure, but I'll find out soon.
How much does baby weigh?: Just about 2 pounds
Maternity clothes?: Yep. All my pants & most tops.
Stretch marks?: Same ones as before, but they're getting a little bigger.
Sleep?: It's been getting worse and worse. I probably woke up ever 30 minutes last night. My hips hurt when I sleep on my side and I'm not supposed to be laying on my back.
Best moment this week?: Carter's increased movement. I have feel him rolling around in there. And sometimes he kicks me so hard it makes me jump.
Movement?: Lots, he's getting more active and more strong everyday. I love it.
Food cravings?: Not much. I get hungry but nothing sounds good. But then I either see someone eating something (real life or T.V.) or someone mentions something and I have to have it.
Labor signs?: None yet, thank you very much.
Belly button in or out?: Still in, getting more shallow though.
What I miss: Sleeping on my back.
What I'm looking forward to: Ellen Show baby. 5 weeks and 2 days!!
Milestone: I'm in double digits. Only 95 days to go Wohoo!

Los Angeles here I come!

So as some of you may know I frequent a website called thebump.com. The pregnant girls on the site are very helpful and I get a lot of information from them. So the last week or so they've been talking about winning tickets to see the Ellen show. At first I was intrigued, but after I heard of the prizes that Ellen has given away the last couple of years I was determined to go. Ellen does a Mother's Day special every year and invites women who are first time moms to be to be a guest in the audience so I signed up on-line.

Well last night I got the call, I won tickets for me and a friend (they prefer it to be a first time mom to be as well) to go down to L.A. on Thursday May 7th for the Ellen show. OMG I can't even tell you how excited I was. I never thought in a million years that I was going to get that call. I was jumping up and down and screaming. Grant knew how much I wanted to go because I was talking about it non-stop about who I would take if I won and etc.

Well my cousin who is almost 24 weeks pregnant (with her first) was the one that I knew I wanted to ask to go with me. She was able to have someone cover her shift so she can go. We are both so excited. I'll have to take a couple of days off work but God knows I could use the little vacation right about now.

In the past Ellen has given away gifts such as diaper bags, strollers, washer/dryers, T.V.'s and much much more. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much about what she'll give away this year so I'm telling myself that she'll give out candels. Haha! That way I won't get disapointed when she gives out the awesome gifts. Oh, and every guest in the audience gets the same gifts. Grant and I can totally use whatever she gives.

24 week update

How far along? 24 weeks 3 days.
Total weight gain/loss: I think I'm up a pound or two by now.
Maternity clothes? About 95% now.
Stretch marks? Still have the same few around my belly button but they're getting bigger. Boo!
Sleep: I have my Snoogle and love it. But I still wake up ever couple of hours.
Best moment this week:Buying the crib bedding and registering.
Movement: Everyday. And I can feel him and SEE him move now.
Food cravings: Still root beer for some odd reason. And the damn Cadbury eggs are still haunting me.
Gender: Still a boy :)
Labor Signs: Nope, thank God.
Belly Button in or out? I swear it's getting shallower every minute.
What I miss: Being able to eat salty foods without my feet swelling to ungodly proportions.
What I am looking forward to: Getting the nursery done, my baby shower(s), meeting our son.
Weekly Wisdom: If you're pregnant buy a snoogle. Trust me! :o)
Milestones: Viability!

Viability

So I didn't get around to posting over the weekend but Carter had a big day on Saturday. Saturday I turned 24 weeks pregnant which is the point of viability. This means that if he is born now he has a chance of surviving, although he'll be in the NICU for some time. I'm sure that it's not at exactly 24 weeks to the day that he reaches this point but it's a great milestone nonetheless.

Nursery progress: Sheetrock is done! We have a professional coming in to do the tape and texture and I'm REALLY hoping he can do that this week so we can start priming the room this weekend. Grant's mom bought us the Kilz primer (best stuff ever) as an early Easter present. Thank you Val!

After work on Friday we went to Toys-R-Us and registered. While we were there we bought the bedding. I told Grant that we needed it to start painting and decorating the nursery and he was all for it. It's so cute, I can't wait to get a crib and set it all up.

My Dad told me this morning that he will build the closet organizer for us, YAY! Grant was originally going to do it but he already has more then enough on his plate with everything else he's doing in the nursery. And plus my dad owns a countertop company and has all the materials and tools to do this in a snap. I'm so grateful that he offered. I wonder if he would do our master bedroom closet too?

Grant is so funny. On the way to register on Friday we had this conversation;
Me: I can't wait to register, I'm so excited!
Grant: Ya, it will be fun.
Me: And we get to try out the strollers to see how we'll like them.
Grant: Honey, I don't think you're going to fit into one of those strollers.
Me: ((dies laughing))

He was totally serious too. He thought that by "trying them out" we were going to push each other around in them. Haha, boys can be so funny sometimes.

I just got it

My snoogle. I can't wait!

My little soccer player

Carter is a kickin' machine that's for sure. This morning before I got out of bed, as I was laying on my right side, Carter was kicking away. I can't believe how high he's kicking now, he was right below my ribs. I love to lay in bed and feel him kick. After I got up, while I was waiting for the shower to get hot, he was kicking some more so I looked down and I was able to see him kick. It was amazing.

I don't think he's breech right now because I'm not feeling the kicks down low anymore. I'm pretty sure that he's laying sideways with his feet below my right ribs and his head below my left ribs. I can feel him kick the right and punch the left at the same time. I think he's doing water aerobics in there. Haha!

Grant and I are going to Toys-R-Us today after work to register. Sadly the closest Babies-R-Us is 2 hours away, that's were I'd love to go. But I've already started my wish list online after doing tons of research as to which stroller/crib/bedding I wanted. So it will make registering a little easier. I can't wait to go though.

My Snoogle is on it's way to my work today. OMG I can't wait to get it. Sleeping this week has started to become a little more uncomfortable. And I get to sleep in with it tomorrow. I'll let you know how I like it.

That's it for now. I will try my hardest to update tomorrow because tomorrow is a big day for Carter. :o)

23 weeks belly pic

DAMN!

My little soccer player

I can not believe how much Carter is kicking now a days. And how strong he's getting. I can't even imagine what it will feel like towards the end. I'm feeling him kick almost all day long. And Grant can feel him just about whenever he puts his hand on my belly (especially if I'm laying down).

Grant made some more progress on the nursery yesterday. I think he will have the sheet rock done next weekend. Tonya (my BFF) came by on Saturday and dropped off some cute outfits that she's been buying over the last month. Then she called yesterday and said that she has a brand new crib mattress for me. YAY! One less thing we have to buy.

I'm still feeling great. I notice that I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night and my hips hurt. I really need to order the Snoogle that I've been meaning to get. I hear they work wonders. I think I'll order that now.

Here's what's been happening the last week:

How far along? 23 weeks 2 days.
Total weight gain/loss: 0. I'm right about where I was pre-pregnancy
Maternity clothes? Yep. I still wear some pre-pregnancy shirts though.
Stretch marks? Still have the same few around my belly button but they're getting bigger. Boo!
Sleep: Is still good but starting to get a little uncomfortable.
Best moment this week: Get comments from strangers. Yay, people notice.
Movement: Everyday
Food cravings: The latest craving was a root beer float. And I'm usually not a big fan of them.
Gender: Still a boy :)
Labor Signs: Nope, thank God.
Belly Button in or out? Still in but getting more shallow everyday.
What I miss: The ease of bending over.
What I am looking forward to: Getting the nursery done, my baby shower(s), meeting our son, registering.
Weekly Wisdom: It's hard to bend over with a belly.
Milestones: I'm in my 6th month now.

Appointment went good!

The doctor answered a bunch of questions I had and we got to hear Carter on the doppler. He measured my fundal height for the first time (measurement from pelvic bone to top of uterus). He said I measured a tad bit big, at 23 or 24 weeks, but I'm okay with that. I'll be 23 weeks tomorrow so I'm not too far off. He wasn't worried in the least bit. My weight was up a few pounds from the last appointment so I'm now at my starting weight.

I scheduled my next appointment for April 2nd, which will be my glucose test. Basically I'll have to wake up, eat breakfast at 7:00, drink the sugary drink they gave me at 8:00, then be in the doctors office by 9:00 to get my blood drawn. They will measure how my body processes the sugar to see if I have gestational diabetes. I'm really hoping that I don't but if I do then I'll have to deal with it. Oh, and I also get another ultrasound at the next appointment. I'm really excited about that because I was told at my last appointment that I was only going to get one more and that would be at my 36 week appointment. Well yesterday I was told by both the doctor and the receptionist that I'd get an ultrasound after they did the glucose test. YAY!

Another doctors appt today.

I think it's just going to be a boring appointment though. No ultrasound or anything. I'm okay with that though.

I get to leave work at 3:00 for the appointment and I think I'm more excited about that then the actual appointment itself. Haha!.

I've been feeling Carter move a lot more lately, I love it. And his kicks are always way down low so I could tell he was still breech. Ever since I've woke up this morning I've noticed his kicks are higher so I think he may have flipped. Who knows though, it could be my imagination.

I need to get a hold of Grant's cousin because this morning I remembered that she said we can go up to Oregon to visit her and she'll give me a free ultrasound (she works in the medical field. Doing what, I don't know exactly). So I think we'll plan a trip up there in the next month or so. I hope she can do 3D because I'd love some more 3D images.

That's pretty much all that's going on. I'll update tomorrow about my doctor's appointment.

Grant got kicked in the face.....

by Carter last night. It was so funny. I told Grant to put his head up to my belly last night while we were laying in bed and I wanted to see if Carter would kick. Well, Grant laid there for a couple of minutes and nothing happened so he got bored and called Coco (while his head was still on my belly) then whistled for Coco. Right after Grant whistled Carter gave a nice strong kick. It was the hardest kick I've felt so far. We were amused so Grant whistled again and he kicked again. We did this a couple more times then Carter stopped kicking. But Grant got a couple nice kicks to the head.

Owners manual for baby

I'm sure you've heard or even said before "I wish babies came with an owners manual". Well, no need to worry any longer I have found one.

The birth of your child - what a miracle! But then you bring the little creature home and you realize that you have no idea what to do with it. "Why didn't this thing come with an instruction manual?" you cry out in vain. You try moving it up, down, up, down, left, right, left, right...but where are the B and A buttons? Why is it screaming? How do you get it to stop? And what, oh all that is holy, is that horrid smell? STOP!!! Take a deep breath. You have a copy of The Baby Owner's Manual, and everything is going to be just fine.

Through step-by-step instructions and helpful schematic diagrams, The Baby Owner’s Manual explores the common concerns of every first-time parent: What’s the best way to swaddle a baby? How can I make my newborn sleep through the night? When should I bring the baby to a doctor for servicing? Whatever your question, you’ll find the answer here - courtesy of celebrated pediatrician Dr. Louis Borgenicht and his son, Joe Borgenicht (also celebrated, in his own way). Together, they provide plenty of useful advice for anyone who wants to learn the basics of childcare. Because once you learn the basics, you can then learn how to do the super combo moves. We have no idea what that means, either.

Baby not included.

I bought this for Grant last week and we received it in the mail last night when we got home. Normally Grant hates to read but he started reading it last night. I skimmed through it and it looks pretty interesting. I got it for $5.85 on ebay in case you're interested.

Finally!!

I've been searching high and low for a diaper bag that I like. While reading another blog today I saw one and I feel in love. It's neutral colors (which is great), it's attached to the stroller super easy (another plus) and it's available at Toys R Us which is the best part because then I can register for it. Yay! Here it is;

Just thought I'd share my excitement. :)
