Birthing Classes

Last Friday and Saturday Grant and I had the pleasure of attending birthing classes. Parts of it were funny, some of it was ridiculous, but for the most part we had a little bit of fun and learned a few new things. My favorite part was the massaging.

I was very impressed with Grant during the classes. He was actually paying attention (I think more so than anyone else there) and was the first to answer several questions that were asked by the instructor. He learned how to swaddle and calm a baby and he even practiced diapering with a doll. We got a tour of the hospital and watched a lot of movies. The class was only held Friday 6-9 pm and Saturday 9am-1pm but I think that's more than enough.

It's so cute because now Grant keeps quizzing our friends on if they know how to do this or do that if the baby is fussy. He even showed our friend Jack how to swaddle using a shim from the door and a rag from painting.

All in all we had a good experience. He was reluctant to enjoy himself at first but overall he admits that it wasn't too bad and he learned a few things.

Then on Sunday it was back to work on the nursery. Alexis, Jack, Haley, Tonya and my mom were there to help. The guys installed the nursery door, some trim around the closet and a few other things while the girls removed the remainder of the nails and staples from the hardwood, cleaned (some of the) hardwood and painted the molding and door.
